LONDON: An influential British Pakistani entrepreneur, philanthropist and a mainstream media commentator has backed Imran Khans bid for power. James Caan, the star of BBCs *it Dragons show, has called Imran the ray of hope for Pakistan in an opinion piece written for The Independent. The influential writer has compared Pakistan with economically rising India, pointing out depressing figures from Pak growth rate, unemployment, illiteracy etc and sees Imran as only hope for the country. He wrote: What Imran brings to the table is something so extraordinary, that he may well be our best shot at good fortune. He has already satisfied any craving for recognition and wealth, becoming one of the most famous cricketers in the world and being hailed as a phenomenal philanthropist. *

He doesnt need to become the leader of Pakistan to line his pockets or rub shoulders with the famous. Hes the real deal. He has sacrificed much to be in politics. He lives fairly modestly, considering his achievements, and is probably one of the most dedicated servants of Pakistan.Imran Khan seems to have occupied considerable attention of western media during the Christmas holidays, especially since his Karachi rally. The rally was covered by almost all of the media specially the main stream papers like Telegraph, the Guardian, the Independent, BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky and The Times. Even after the rally, series of opinion articles on Imran can be seen in British press covering different aspects of Pak- politick as well as Imrans life. *

Daily Telegraph gave almost full page to Imrans Karachi rally on Christmas day, and the papers reporter wrote on difficulties Imran is facing on his political path Riding a tsunami of popular support ahead of elections widely expected next year, he is bracing himself for a campaign of dirty tricks.
On Tuesday, the paper again wrote an interesting piece on Imran giving an extract from his book, Pakistan. In the book Imran mentioned the financial crunch he was facing after election 2002 and needed money to clear his debts. He helped his then brother-in-law, Ben Goldsmith to bet on England-South Africa match, who already had lost 10000 by third day of match. Imrans guidance cleared both his and Bens debts. *
